Course: "Building Bridges: Playing with Art &
Music"
Description: A project bringing artists, musicians
and poets together. This is a hands-on inquiry. Using
an artist’s journal/sketchbook approach we’ll explore creating visual
connections to music. Co-taught by River McGhee and Zigi Lowenberg.
Dates: Saturdays, January 23 through February 27, 2010.
*Plus a special final "happening" at the March 5, First Fridays at OPC.
Session: 6-week session. Drop-in okay. Time: 2:00 - 3:30PM
Age: for adults & youth, this is a mixed-age class,
geared for ages 12 and up. Younger children are to be accompanied by a
participating adult.
Cost: $5-$10 sliding scale per week. (Participating
adult with child/youth = 1 admission charge only!)
Are you a visual artist who wants to work with music? Are you a musician who wants to create visual work? Are you a student artist? Or a creative type wanting to
expand your scope?
Using an artist’s sketchbook we’ll explore creating
visual connections to music. Using line, color, texture, sculpture and more
we’ll describe
- Musical elements such as theme & variations;
head-solo-head; harmony; sampling, etc.
- The meaning you find in music
- Music as muse
For Adults & Youth, this is a mixed-age class, geared for
ages 12 and up. Younger children are to be accompanied by a participating
adult.
