 Mbira of the Zimbabwean Tradition. Learn the ancient art of mbira music from the spiritual tradition of Zimbabwe .  The mbira is a metal keyboard of 22-28 keys that has been played for centuries by the Shona people of Zimbabwe .  When played together with hosho (gourd rattles) and singing, the powerful, intricate melodies of the instrument draw ancestral spirits near, give us courage, and promote healing. Mbira are available for use in class and for purchase from the teacher. Experience playing another musical instrument is helpful. Limited to 12 students.
